Service Description

Our classes are designed to inspire creativity and teach you the fundamentals of fashion design and sewing. You’ll learn how to bring your creative visions to life, whilst we help and guide you to design and make your own clothes and accessories with confidence. These are a variety of skills you can learn in our classes: - Pattern cutting - Garment construction - Pinning, measuring and cutting - Designing & sewing from a mannequin - Machine and hand sewing - Copy your own clothes - Zip and fastening insertion - Fabric manipulations - Garment alterations Overview of the first two lessons: In the first lesson, you will learn how to operate a sewing machine and practice control on scrap fabrics. After you will move on to your first project. We will start by making some simple elasticated shorts. This project will allow you to master basic sewing techniques and learn how to read patterns which you can then further develop in future projects. The shorts will take around two classes to complete. You don’t need to bring anything for your first project as we supply fabrics and equipment. Learning outcomes - Operate a sewing machine - Sew in an elastic waistband - Sew basic seams and Hems - Understand and read patterns - Fabric knowledge Once you have completed your first project you can then choose the direction you wish you go into. You can choose from a variety of different patterns with different styles/sizes available; dresses, skirts, tops, kimonos, lingerie etc. Learn how to alter or up-cycle your current clothes. Pattern Drafting & adaptions Copy your clothes Model & Drape on the mannequin Sewing methods. Our classes are aimed to inspire and guide you to truly express yourself giving you the necessary skills to do so. There are no boundaries when it comes to creating clothes.
